So we all know that in the spring, crayfish activity increases and a lot of species really key on crayfish as a main food source. So a lot of anglers will kind of mimic their springtime baits to kind of match that of crayfish.
So we’re going to talk about a square build first. You can see this is a red crawl pattern. Very, very popular. And a lot of anglers will have various styles of red craw in their arsenal for the spring. The reason I like a square bill, it has a very tight wobble It allows anglers to cover a lot of water quickly.
And you can fish this very effectively along rock or in wood. And the intention of this bait is to purposely bump it into structure to create a reaction from those fish Next up, very similar crayfish pattern. But in the lipless crank bait, I like the lipless crank bait because it catches a variety of species and can be fished in several different ways.
You can Yo-Yo this bait fish in open water, in shallow water, ripping it through the grass. Very versatile springtime bait that allows you to cover a lot of water, fish it very differently in various depths and catch a variety of species And lastly, it’s tough to beat a big jig in the spring. This is what you’re going to break out in case you want to slow down and really pick apart heavy structure.
And typically, fishing a jig is going to get you that big bite. So those are three baits that if fished effectively you’re going to catch a lot of fish come springtime.
