Spooling A Spinning Reel With Kristine Fischer
Learn how to put line on your spinning setup.
Hey all, Kristine Fischer ,
here with Go Out{side} and today,
I’m gonna show you how to put line
on your spinning setup.
So First off, I like to keep my line
and a bucket of water you can take
and put a pencil between a Cardboard box
and do it that way, but I
like keeping my line
in a bowl of water for couple reasons.
One, it helps keep
the spool upright and two
it kind of softens that line a little
bit so it goes on the real easier
and can reduce some of that
memory, especially
if you’re using monofilament.
So First off we’re
going to take the line.
Run it right thru that top guide
Probably the most
important thing when it comes to.
Pulling up a spinning reel.
We’re going to open the bail.
And then we’re going to
tie the line to the bail.
You can do something as simple as
just tying a couple of overhand knots.
They wanna take our
scissors and cut that tag
end as close to the knot as possible.
Next up, close the bail.
And while taking one of your
hands, keeping some
light tension on the line.
We are good to start spooling.
We’re going to keep
spooling until our line
is about an eighth of an
inch from the lip of the spool.
Once you’re done, you’re gonna
feed that line the rest of the guides,
and then you’re ready to go fishing.
One thing to keep in mind
if you plan on using
braided line or superline as
your main line on spinning reels,
it’s always a good idea to use a cheaper
monofilament or fluorocarbon
backing for two reasons.
One, it’s going to
prevent that braid from slipping
on your real and two.
It’s a little more expensive to use
an economically friendly backing as
opposed to the expensive
Super line or braided line.
Now you guys know how to
spool up a spinning rod.
