Power Fishing Techniques
Tournament Angler Kristine Fischer shares her favorite power fishing baits and how to use them.
Hey, guys and gals, how’s it going? Kristine Fisher here with Go Outside. And today I’m going to run you through my three favorite power fishing baits. Power fishing is all about covering a lot of water, looking for those fish that are ready to eat.
So first up, we’re going to talk about a spinner bait. A spinner bait is one of the best baits on the planet for catching fish all throughout the year. You can cover a lot of water with it. You can fish in the wood.
It comes through grass fairly well. You can burn it in shallow water, slow roll in deep water, fish in the current or fish in slack water. Spinner bait will flat out catch a variety of species from pan fish to large mouth bass, small mouth bass, pike, muskey, walleye, striped bass, you name it.
The spinner bait will catch it.
Next up is the increasingly popular bladed jig. The bladed jig is a lot like a swim jig, except it’s got a blade attached to the head of the bait. That’s going to consistently be in contact, creating a lot of noise.
So you can pair these with several different trailers, swim bait trailer, creature bait style trailer.
You can fish these very effectively in grass again, open water, fishing slow, fishing fast– an excellent power fishing bait to cover a lot of water and catch a lot of fish.
Last up is a crank bait. So crank baits come in a variety of different shapes, sizes and colors. The neat thing about them is that you can look on the package and it’ll tell you what depth they’re going to run.
So, if you know you’re fishing deep and you want to cover a lot of water. You’re going to go for deep diving crank bait.
So that pretty much covers my three most favorite power fishing baits. And again, power fishing is all about covering a lot of water and making a lot of casts looking for those active fish.
Go catch em’ y’all!
