Live Or Artificial Bait With Kristine Fischer
Kristine Fischer is talking about live bait versus artificial. When you walk into a tackle shop you see live bait in tanks and refrigerators and walls of artificial baits. So which one do we choose? She discusses the pros and cons of both options.
Hey everybody, Kristine Fischer
with Go Out{side}
and we’re going to talk
about live bait versus
artificial when it comes to fishing.
So a lot of us walk
into a tackle shop and we see
it bait tanks and live bait.
An refrigerator’s full of options and
we see walls and walls
and walls for artificial.
So which one do we choose?
Let’s start out with live bait.
Live Bait has been
used for decades
and decades for every species out there.
Both freshwater and saltwater.
Live bait comes in handy because
when the bite gets extra tough,
there’s nothing better
than an actual real life.
Baitfish, Nightcrawler,
Leech, you name it that has scent.
That’s realistic and at the fish or
used to seeing now that being said.
With live bait, you
have to replace it constantly.
That’s where it comes
in handy to begin to experiment
with artificials.
The nice thing about artificials,
you don’t have to worry
about keeping them alive.
These artificial baits will vary
from species to species and are going to
require a little bit of knowledge on
how to effectively work said baits.
With live bait, it’s much more simple.
A lot of times it’s a very easy
rig with a split shot or circle
Hook or something similar to that
and you cast out and
either drift the line, let it set there
under a bobber, and
let the bait do its work.
So it does require a little
less work than artificials.
However, like I said before, there’s
just something about giving life to
an artificial bait, making
it work, and catching fish
on it that sometimes gives a
little bit of added challenge
and can be a lot of fun.
Make sure you check your
state’s regulations.
A lot of states are going to
have regulations when using
live bait on certain bodies
of water as to not
introduce the wrong species
into an ecosystem.
There is no right or wrong
answer when it comes to live bait versus
artificial and fishing.
Both will catch a lot of fish
and both guarantee a good
time on the water.
