A Day Out{side}: White Bass Fishing
Kara Moss targets white bass for the first time along the Neches River in Texas.
Hey, guys. My name is Kara, and today I’m going to be taking you along with me as I target white bass for the first time. I’ve got my car loaded up with all the tackle I need, and I’m going to be driving to the Neches River, which is on the north end of Lake Palestine in Texas. And we’re going to see what we can get into today.
The current plan is to take a canoe out and row up the river a little ways and see what we can find. But first things first. We got to get to the river. The lure I decided to throw first today was this road runner. I feel like the blade you can see on the front will move a lot of water and create a lot of flash, which I think will help me a lot today, considering the water is pretty murky.
I also feel like that this probe tail trailer will do me a lot of good because it’ll do a lot of moving and shaking and create an action that might attract more fish So our original plan of taking this canoe up the Neches river this morning was shortly lived because ultimately the wind was a bit too strong for us to be fighting which is unfortunate.
But, you know, we’re going to change, plans just a little bit and start casting from the bank and see what we can find Well, we’re on the board so far today. He’s a good sized one, too.
Oh, boy. Oh, there he goes. Bye bud. White bass number two.
One more little guy.
He’s pretty cute. Not a white bass but we’ll take it too. We have bass number four here we go.
We got one more to end the day.
He’s a littler guy. I’m not even sure if this is the right type of bass, but that’s pretty cool. And to end the day, this very windy day. Back he goes by bud. So the wind may have changed my original plan for the day, but ultimately, I think today was pretty successful. I still got to catch a new species for the first time, and I can honestly say that they are incredibly fun to catch and I look forward to doing this again very soon.
