We had been told by many people that we had to see the Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium in Springfield, Mo., but even with all the recommendations, we were not prepared for how incredible it really is! The aquarium is first, and when I tell you we were blown away from the start, I am not kidding! The displays and exhibits are amazing, and there are interactive, educational aspects to most of them. The level of detail and creativity throughout the entire facility is really a sight to see. We got to walk through the Fishing Hall of Fame and see all types of salt and freshwater marine life. After the aquarium, we walked through the Bass Pro Shops that is attached to the building to get to the wildlife museum. Equally as impressive as the aquarium, the museum contains detailed displays of all kinds of animals set in scenes of their natural habitats. The mission of the museum is to share the principles of conservation with everyone that comes through the door, especially kids. Teaching the importance of protecting nature and wildlife to future generations is a thread woven throughout each of the areas in the building. You almost need a couple of days to really take it all in. The sheer number of animals, both living and displayed, is beyond counting. I would highly encourage you to check it out if you’re ever in the area!
