Located outside of Kanab, Utah – Red Canyon offers a unique hiking experience weaving through the slots below.

We took a day outside to explore a slot canyon outside of Kanab, Utah. Red Canyon, also known locally as Peek-a-Boo Canyon, is a superfun adventure for all! It’s an almost-9-mile round-trip trail. The trip from the trailhead to the slot canyon is almost 4 miles. It can be hiked, but it’s mostly deep sand with little shade, so most take a Jeep, ATV or other 4×4 vehicle. Once we got to the slot canyon, we were treated to a beautiful hike through wavy red, tan and orange rock walls that seemed to stretch as high as the sky! In some areas, the rock walls are even close enough to climb and stretch across. Be sure to take a layer or two. We were surprised by how much cooler it was exploring the canyon. Even in the heat of summer, the temperature inside the canyon can be 20 degrees cooler than outside!
