A Day Out{side} Exploring the Bisti Badlands
Follow along with the Adventurtunity Family as they hike through rock formations, hoodoos, and canyons that resemble a landscape that is out of this world.
We are boondocking outside of the Farmington, New Mexico area and decided to take a day outside to check out the Bisti Badlands.
So let’s go see what we can find.
Located about 35 miles south of Farmington, the Badlands is a mind blowing landscape full of rock formations, hoodoos and canyons just waiting to be explored. Created over time by wind. In water erosion, the Bisti Badlands will have you feeling like you just landed on a distant planet.
There’s no particular trail to follow. Instead, you just sort of wander in your own direction, weaving your way through the varied terrain and we downloaded an all trails map to have a path to follow from previous hikers, which was helpful to get our bearings as we hiked along. There’s so much to see, so make sure you bring plenty of water as there’s very little shade and the summer
months can be extremely hot in this area.
We had a blast exploring, climbing and trekking our way all around the Bisti Badlands.
