Strawberry Soup
This sweet treat is perfect for a summer snack or a winter dessert. Oh, and it is super easy to whip up.
Hey, everybody! Jimmy Kennedy here again with Go Outside.
And we’re in the JDK Barbecue Grill. I wanted to show you a really cool and interesting soup idea. It’s called Strawberry Soup. It’s made with sugar, a little bit of water– and you can use– I’m using seltzer today, but you can use chilled wine, white wine or just about anything, really, and sour cream. But I’m using yogurt today because we’re going to meet June and my nephew and niece over at the beach in Maine tomorrow.
And I think they would appreciate the vanilla yogurt a little better, and we serve this cold. It can be a really, really good first course in the winter or the summer, especially in summer. But you can make it with fresh strawberries– a lot better.
But it works with frozen strawberries to if you can’t find a fresh, you know, and if you want to do this in the middle of winter sometime. But it’s really good. And what I’m going to do is I’m just going to put it in my thermos, chill it and take it over there.
Surprise them with a strawberry soup right on the beach. And I guess we’ll call it beach soup tomorrow. Let me show you how to make this stuff.
It’s super duper easy. And the best thing to do is– do it in a blender.
There’s just a whole lot easier. I’ve got three and a half cups of strawberries. I’ve got a cup and a half of sugar, maybe a little less. A cup and a half of water, about a half a cup of seltzer or the chilled wine or hard cider, whatever you want.
It’s all good.
I’m going to go out with a yogurt. But try it with sour cream too.
It’s super good with that. Sounds funky. But it’s good.
But that’s about all it is to it. No cooking involved here.
We just let it go. One time, my oldest daughter, Josie and I were making this and the top flew off.
We got strawberry soup all over the entire kitchen in the house. I mean, everywhere. The walls and everything. We did that kind of stuff a lot. We’re getting better at it.
And that’s it, and we’ll put that in this thermos right here and put it in the fridge.
And tomorrow morning, I’ll pull it out. We’ll serve this in bowls or little cups.
So I found the guys at the beach. You got a strawberry soup. Still nice and cold. So we got some donuts.
You want to have some donuts first?
Oh, yeah. Looking good here. Life is good. Donuts. Strawberry soup. Yeah. You got to try this out. Thank you. Enjoy and go outside.
This recipe is best made with a blender, I like to make it at home and pack it in a thermos or tightly sealed container in a cooler for the beach, boat, picnics, hiking, camping or any outdoor adventure. My family loves it, and yours will, too.
