Overnight oats are a great thing to make at home, and they’re even better for camping. While preparing dinner around the fire or grill, just take a few minutes to make up the overnight oats then place them in the camper fridge or cooler, and breakfast will be as good as done. All you’ll have to deal with in the morning is the coffee and toppings!

Ingredients:

1 cup rolled oats

1 cup milk

1/2 cup Greek yogurt

Maple syrup or honey, to taste

1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional but good)

Topping ideas:

Fruit — bananas, raspberries, blueberries, apples, strawberries

Peanut butter

Nutella

Chocolate chips

Unsweetened shredded coconut

More maple syrup

Directions:

1. Mix the oats, milk, yogurt and chia seeds (if using) together, then add a little maple syrup and mix again. If the bowl you’re using to mix in has a lid, cover it and place it in the fridge or cooler. You can also wrap the bowl with plastic wrap. I prefer to portion out the oats in individual glasses, bowls or cups and wrap them with plastic wrap.

2. In the morning, when you are ready for breakfast, just take off the lid or unwrap and add your favorite toppings, or enjoy as is.

Prep time: 5 to 10 minutes

Yield: 2 servings
