Making Hot Chocolate with Jimmy Kennedy
Hey, Jimmy Kennedy, here with go outside. And we’re making my buddy’s favorite right? Yeh. Hot chocolate. We got Ted, Charlie and Junebug here today and we’ve done a few videos. We’ve been out fishing today and it was so cold wasn’t it?
Yeah, it was like raining and 20 degrees, so we need some hot chocolate. And what we’re going to do today is have set up like a hot chocolate bar. We’re going to make the hot chocolate show you. You’re really good simple recipe and then kind of let you give you some ideas about some add ins.
What what these guys like to put in theirs and what I like to put in mine. And you can just make it your own too. But super simple recipe. All right. So we got a little bit of water and some sugar in here, and we’re going to add the cocoa. Smokey?
Yeah. So we’re going to put a quarter cup of cocoa in the recipe of the on the website. So you don’t really have to follow along too closely today.
If.
You have that maple sugar, too. So this is cooking nicely. What you want to do is bring this to a boil. Well, that’s looking dark and rich in it. All right. We put a quarter cup of regular sugar and we’re going to put about a quarter cup of maple sugar.
A buddy of mine makes this stuff, and it gives it a little extra kick to it. I would say it’s a quarter cup. What do you think, folks enough? I think so, too. Yes. Oh, this is so good. So you want to get this boiling?
A lot of people add salt to this also, and you can do that. It’s a good idea, really, but this is looking good. All right. So I like to call this a roux. It’s not really, but that’s what it looks like when that’s nice and hot and boiling just a little bit.
We got some warm milk and it’s good to do the warm that way kind of mixes better with the already warm chocolate. That’s kind of tempered the recipe. Most recipes call for four cups of milk. I like to only a three because I like it’s super rich and yummy.
So here we don’t want this to boil. We wanted the other to come to a boil with the sugar. We just want to heat this up to where it’s just good to drink. And then we’re going to put it in the mug and you guys can add whatever you want in there.
Junior mints, M&M’s or what do you like in yours?
