Cheese Toast With Jimmy Kennedy
This classic snack is easy to make anytime, anywhere.
Hey, guys. Jimmy Kennedy, here with go outside again, and we’re at a favorite local lake here. Real close to home. We come here a lot during the summer with the girls. They’re out there now with a bunch of friends having fun– the fishing is not too bad either..
It is unseasonably warm here in September in Vermont, but cheese toast is good just about any time and that’s what we’re going to do. They’re looking forward to it. And I say this about a lot of recipes, but this is probably the easiest recipe of all.
It’s just basically toast and cheese. But we’re going to show you a few tips and tricks, and kind of kick it up a notch. I think you’ll like it.
All right. Let’s get it started. I’m just going to start with a little bit of butter.
We have a good hot Lodge cast iron pan here. Listen to that thing. It sounds good.
We have three different kinds of bread. We have a kind of a sesame bread, some gluten free bread– We are going to have a little fun here..
And it’s so hot today– I could probably just put cheese on top and put a lid on it, and we would be good to go. But I like to get both sides toasted. That’s kind of the trick to have the trick to this.
Besides adding ingredients, you want to toast both sides. It’s going real quick.
Might as well cook them all.. Maybe had a little more butter. Doesn’t matter.
What you have is both sides kind of toasted– at least one side pretty good, then you can flip it over and do the other side.
And what I have is — some Cabot shredded garlic, herb cheddar.
We’re going to mix this up, like I said there. Flip these over. Oh yes, looking good.
Put a little bit of that. And this is seriously sharp– Cabot Seriously Sharp cheddar.
This is my favorite to cook with.
Yeah, it’s looking great. And what you want to do is get this to melt. It’s going to kind of melt on its own. But– put a lid on it. If you don’t have a lid use aluminum foil. It’s just as easy. Works just as well.
If we were at home- I would probably just– We were at home, I’d probably just turn the oven off now. It might not be a bad idea just to move the pan out of the way. The fire’s pretty hot.
Basically just going to toast both sides, melt some cheese. I like to put mustard on one side, but we didn’t do it today. That’s all it is. These kids are going to love this and that’s, you know, two or three minutes.
You’ve got a great snack, and I think they’ll appreciate it. Thanks again, folks. See you soon.
