Campsite French Toast Breakfast
Hi I’m Philip and this is Corey, and we are with go outside and we are camping at Cade’s Cove in Great Smoky Mountain National Park. And this morning we woke up, took a tour around the loop, saw some bears, saw some deer, some turkeys. And when we got back, it was time for some breakfast.
So we got this great recipe, it’s campfire French toast, and it was delicious. First of all, this recipe started at home, what we do at home.
We mixed up what we start with. We make stuff um uh. Eggs, eggs, milk, milk, cinnamon, sugar, sugar.
A pinch of salt. A pinch of salt.
Yeah. And we mix it up in this little container here, I think. Where do you get it? Dollar Store. Yeah, the dollar store. It was great. Mix it up. Threw it in the cooler and took it up the road with us.
And this morning, we got everything set up, cut up the bread into thirds and soaked it in that mixture right there.
And you want a thick bread- more like Texas toast.
Yeah, Texas toast. Something thick. Nice and thick.
So you let it soak for a minute or so per side. Yeah. And after that, you get a pan, melt butter in it, and then you drop the bread in, cook it for about two to four minutes a side.
Two to four minutes on medium heat.
Yeah, you’ll get the feel. Make sure you watch camp stoves just because you never know how hot they really are and can get super hot or not hot enough. So two to four minutes per side.
After that– Take it off.
Let it cool a little bit. It can be hot. We served ours with some fruit. What did we?
blueberries and raspberries.
Yeah. Blueberry and raspberry. And put some syrup on it and ate it up. It was great. One thing I liked about it, it was delicious.
Anything you like about this recipe? That cinnamon. Cinnamon. I like that it came together quickly. You know, it was quick. We got finished with our tour around the loop here at Cades Cove at maybe ten o’clock and at ten fifteen we were already all eating.
So it was great. Came together quick, really simple, clean up too. only two extra dishes, which I hate cleaning dishes at camp, so I like that aspect of it. Anyway, you also give it a try. We’ll put the ingredients in this video and let us know if you like it.
Thanks.
